Judge Orders Mediation Hearings For Interfaith

Hospital has funds to stay open through end of 2013.

A bankruptcy court judge ordered mediation hearings Wednesday for the operators of Interfaith Medical Center and those struggling to keep it from closing, NY1 reported.

After morning demonstrations by advocates for the Bed-Stuy hospital, the judge said mediation could help find a middle ground between community advocates and hospital operators who say the hospital doesn't have the funds to continue operating.

Recently, the state allocated funding to help the hospital stay open through the end of 2013, according to City Councilman-elect Robert Cornegy.
