Didn't the dead get up to vote in Chicago? If the dems don't like voter ID, why go you got to showRead More to enter the White House? Oh, I forgot it's closed.

What is the purpose of showing ID to vote? In order to vote here in NY, first I need to know whereRead More the polling place is. For me, it's an Elementary School on a side street I have never gone to before, or passed before when driving, except on Election Day. Then I need to know which election district I am in, as there are 2 or 3 EDs at the polling place. Then I go to the table, give my name, which if it's there, I have to sign my name, and they compare the signatures. What would showing ID do, if I still have to sign in? All it does, it slow down the process as people have to dig out their ID. Have you ever been behind a woman writing a check at the supermarket? It could take several minutes to find he wallet and her license. SO what does Voter ID do? Makes people wait. The lines get longer. People get discouraged and leave the line without voting. Republicans have restricted early-voting in areas where it's available. From 10 days, to 6. What 6? Oh, Monday to Saturday. Many poor people work 6 days a week, and have of only on Sundays, when they go to church and shopping and such. Also a time to vote. Nope, Sunday is now cancelled. Never needed a driver's license because you take the bus or subway? You need to go to DMV. DMV is only open Monday to Friday until 5pm. Closed holidays. Never needed a passport because you can't afford to travel overseas? Go to the post office! Oh sorry, closed Sundays...

I do not think there would be any objection to voter ID if it was done in a partisan manner that wasRead More fully funded. However these unfunded laws being pushed are not about preventing the non-existing fraud, but about restriction the ability of minority voters who typically vote Democrat to vote.......... Pretender otherwise is just dishonest.

EXTEND!!!! It's pathetic that we as citizens allow the people who have never had to use socialRead More benefits decide whether we should be allowed to use what we all pay for every week of our labor out of our paychecks. Tell me one person on Capital Hill who has ever lost a job and had to use the Unemployment System until they found another? I bet its very small number. Yet we give them the decision making power to rule on our lives? Why? They receive full medical coverage, lifetime jobs for some, insane pensions that the working man/woman could only dream of, yet they do not work a full year like the rest of us? These are the people who we want representing our everyday issues? Not in my opinion. Time for this country to ORGANIZE!!! It's us against them it seems. Very sad day to be an american when you see our government coming off the rails and there is no answer in sight.

Hop aboard the LIRR and visit the Met or MOMA. You can easily spend an entire day at either ofRead More them. Another good trip in nice weather if Fort Tryon and the Cloisters, with lunch or dinner at the New Leaf Restaurant in Fort Tryon Park. Or go downtown, take a walk over the Brooklyn Bridge. Or check out Battery Park, or rent a bicycle and ride up from the Battery to the GW Bridge along the Hudson River, turn around and pedal to Central Park, drop off the bike, take the subway to Penn and the LIRR. The last one we did was the 911 Memorial, Trinity Church & Cemetery, the NYSE, the Federal Building (where Washington was sworn-in as President and where the Bill of Rights was written; cap off this trip with a meal at Fraunces Tavern.

Gentrification is on steroids--God help Brooklyn! The past, present and incoming elected publicRead More officials have sold us out. We were told days ago that the ten block stretch under the Brooklyn-Queens Expressway (BQE) from Navy Street to Grand Avenue is going to be transformed from parking space for over 300 cars to restaurants, stores and other businesses who will live off of these coming entities. First question is where are existing residents going to park their cars? Second question is where are the folks attracted to these new stores going to park--once 300 parking spaces are lost? Third question, who is getting the contracts to do the construction and related work ripping up the decades old parking spaces under the BQE?
