Hamptons Agenda: Ina Garten, Art for ARF, Carnival

Outdoor movie seekers can take in a classic film in Bridgehampton and East Hampton, swim lovers can take the challenge for a good cause in Montauk, and theatergoers can catch "Men's Lives" as it runs its final weekend at Bay Street Theatre in Sag Harbor.  Here's some of the hottest events happening in the Hamptons this weekend.

SWIM CHALLENGE: If you love to swim and want to support a good cause, join the "Get Wet for a Good Cause!" challenge in Montauk on Saturday. This will benefit the Montauk Playhouse Community Center and the future of its Aquatics Center. Same-day check-in and registration begins at 6 a.m. at the Kirk Beach parking lot. You can register for half-mile, 1-mile or a 2-mile swim distance and the registration fee is $25 for youth and $35 for adult. Swimmers will receive a swim cap, a T-shirt, and a post-race breakfast. SOFTBALL TOURNAMENT FUNDRAISER: will take place on Friday at the American Legion from 7:30 to 10:30 p.m. Live music will be provided by RadioFire NY, there will be a 50/50 raffle, and food will be provided by Smokin' Wolf Cash Bar. The event is being held to choose brackets for the fifth annual Travis Field Memorial Softball Tournament that will take place the following weekend to raise funds for the Travis Field Memorial Scholarship Fund. Travis Field was a 20-year-old East Hampton man who died in a car accident in 2008. Tickets are $20.

OUTDOOR MOVIE: The John Drew Theater at Guild Hall presents in partnership with the East Hampton Historical Society a summer series of . "Raiders of the Lost Ark" will be shown on Friday at 8:30 p.m. at Mulford Farm. You can bring your blanket and a picnic. Tickets are $5 and free to children ages 5 and younger.

GUILD HALL: will be screened at Guild Hall on Friday night at 8 p.m., celebrating the 25th anniversary of its screening at the New York Film Festival.  The evening is presented in partnership with the John Drew Theater, the Hamptons International Film Festival and The Film Society of Lincoln Center.  Special guests will be on hand after the screening for discussion and culinary treats provided by Babette's Restaurant.  Tickets are $22 and $20 for members. MUSIC: Musical folklorist, singer, and guitarist will be performing during Shabbat Service at the Jewish Center of the Hamptons on Saturday at 10 a.m.  Edery sings in fifteen languages, speaks four fluently, and is a recipient of the Sephardic Musical Heritage Award.

FAIR: will take place in East Hampton on Saturday from 10 a.m. to 4 p.m. on the grounds of the Ladies Village Improvement Society at 95 Main Street in East Hampton. There will be pony rides, a carousel, games and prizes.  This family-friendly event will also have books, furniture, clothing, plants, and flowers for sale. Music will be provided by Just Good Friends at 3 p.m.  A clam bar will open at 2 p.m. and an LVIS/Lions Club BBQ will be held from 4 to 7 p.m., with take-out beginning at 3 p.m.

THEATRE: Bay Street Theatre runs the final weekend in its revival of Directed by Harris Yulin and written by Joe Pintauro, the play is based on the book by Peter Matthiessen. The story tells of struggling fishermen on the East End who were forced to launch war against the government and the effects of the economic changes in the Hamptons. It tells the tale of families trying to maintain their way of life and survive in ever changing times. This play was the inaugural production at Bay Street Theatre in 1992, and 20 years later, local fishermen are still fighting for their survival. Tickets are $55 and $66. Weekend performances run Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 7 p.m.

BENEFIT: ARF will be hosting the fundraiser at the Goat Alley Gallery in Sag Harbor from 4 to 6 p.m. on Saturday to benefit the care for the animals at the Adoption Center. Art work of the late Elinor Van Ingen McDade was bequeathed to ARF and will be for sale and on exhibition. Refreshments will be served. For more information call 631-537-0400 x208.

WINE & MUSIC: Wolffer Estate Vineyard is hosting throughout the summer at the Wine Stand on Montauk Highway from 5 p.m.  until sunset every Friday and from 5:30 p.m. till sunset every  Saturday. Live music will be playing until the sun sets, while wine is served by the bottle and the glass with cheese and charcuterie plates available for purchase. OUTDOOR MOVIE: "The Wizard of Oz" will be shown outdoors at Silas Marder  Gallery in Bridgehampton on Friday at 9 p.m. The film showing is part of a series happening throughout the summer called , presented in partnership with the Hamptons International Film Festival. All films are free and you may bring beach chairs, blankets, and a picnic.

CARNIVAL: The Kiwanis Club is hosting its annual at Sayre Park in Bridgehampton daily through Sunday from 6 to 11 p.m.  Admission is free.  Pay per ride and game.

FIRE DEPARTMENT BENEFIT: The Bridgehampton Fire Department is hosting their on Saturday at 6 p.m.  You can purchase tickets for a chance to win a first prize of $30,000; the second prize is $20,000; the third prize is $10,000; the fourth prize is $5,000; the fifth prize is $1,000.  There are also 10 chances to win $500.  Tickets for a chance costs $100 and includes admission for two people for the cocktail party and drawing.  If all 1,500 tickets are not sold, the prizes will be prorated by the number of tickets sold.  Cocktails and hors d'oeuvres that include plenty of clams will be served.  People who wish to attend the cocktail party can purchase tickets at the door for $20.

2012 CHEFS DINNER SHOWCASE: Top Manhattan chefs and top local talent will be joining special guest Ina Garten for the . A dinner showcase, cocktail party, and silent auction will take place on Saturday beginning at 5:30 p.m. on the grounds of the Hayground School's campus.  World famous chefs confirmed to be attending includes Eric Ripert (Le Bernardin), Josh Capon (Lure Fish Bar), Justin Smillie (Il Buco Alimentari & Vineria), and Amanda Freitag (Food Network's Chopped). Local chefs attending include James Carpenter (The Living Room), Bryan Futerman (Foody’s), Christian Mir (Stone Creek Inn), and Kevin Penner (1770 House).  The cocktail party will take place from 5:30 to 7:30 p.m. The silent auction will take place during the cocktail party and the sit-down dinner will begin at 8 p.m.  A live auction will follow the dinner.  Tickets for the cocktail party only are $150 per person and for the dinner and the cocktail party tickets are $750 per person.  VIP wine tables are also available with limited availability and features fine wine selections and premium seating in Jeff’s Kitchen with prices starting at $1500 per ticket and $11,000 for a table of eight. Tickets for children are $35 and includes a kids dinner and creative childcare by Hayground Camp counselors.

AUTHOR TALK: Author will be at the Hampton Library on Friday at 5 p.m. to discuss her book, A More Perfect Heaven: How Copernicus Revolutionized the Cosmos.  Sobel is a former New York Times science reporter and has written for many magazines including Life and The New Yorker.  She has won numerous awards including the 2001 Individual Public Service Award from the National Science Board.  Tickets are $15 per person or $60 for a group of 5.  Hors d'oeuvres and beverages are included and doors open at 4:30 p.m.

LAUNCH PARTY: Maison 24, a luxury lifestyle brand, celebrates the , as well as the seven new limited edition works by Dirk Westphal and an inspired design book by David Scott on Saturday from 5:30 to 8 p.m. at Maison 24 on Main Street in Bridgehampton. Shop and mingle, meet the designers, CEOs and artists behind the brands being featured and enjoy cocktails and bites to eat, including the Rickshaw Dumpling foodtruck.

BENEFIT: is Saturday at 6 p.m. at Robert Wilson's The Watermill Center. Watermill International Summer Program Participants from over 25 countries will create eight acres of installations and performances throughout the grounds of Watermill during the event. The funds raised will support The Watermill Center's International Summer Program and year round Artist Residency Program, providing a unique environment for young and emerging artists to explore and develop their work. The evening will include cocktails generously provided by Bacardi USA, a silent auction, performances, art installations, dinner, dancing and a live auction hosted by auctioneer Simon de Pury, Chairman, Phillips de Pury & Company. The dress code for The Big Bang is Pop and will inspire the fashion of the evening as guests dance under the stars in the auction tent.

BENEFIT: The -Summer Celebration will take place at the Atlantic Golf Club on Scuttle Hole Road in Water Mill on Saturday from 6:30 to 9:30 p.m. The evening will benefit the artists that appear at the festival.  Elegant wines, music, and food will be provided.  Tickets are $1,500 to $2,000. ART FAIR: The inaugural takes place all weekend at the Southampton Elks Lodge fairgrounds. The contemporary art fair is held in a state-of-the-art 75,000 square foot pavilion. It commences on Thursday evening with an opening night VIP preview benefiting Southampton Hospital. The gates open at the fair at noon on Friday, Saturday, Sunday and Monday. LITERARY REVIEW RELEASE: On Friday at 7:30 p.m., the summer 2012 edition of in the Avram Theater at Stony Brook Southampton, with readings by two-time U.S. poet laureate Billy Collins and award-winning essayist, novelist and distinguished professor Roger Rosenblatt, along with remarks by Southampton Arts provost Robert Reeves.

THEATER: Center Stage at Southampton Cultural Center presents all weekend. "The Graduate" is based upon the 1963 novel written by Charles Webb, who wrote it shortly after graduating from Williams College. Adapted for the London stage in 2001 by Terry Johnson, The Graduate moved to Broadway in 2002 with Kathleen Turner as Mrs. Robinson and Jason Biggs as Benjamin Braddock. Performances are Friday and Saturday at 8 p.m. and Sunday at 5 p.m. General admission is $22, and students under 21 with ID can attend for $12. Michael Disher directs.

AUTHOR TALK: Author Barbaralee Diamonstein-Speilvogel will be at BookHampton in Southampton on Friday at 5 p.m.  She will discuss and sign her new book, The Landmarks of New York.  Admission to this event is free.

AUTHOR TALK: First-time fiction author and journalist for The New York Times, will be at Books & Books on Friday at 7 p.m. in Westhampton Beach to discuss her debut novel, Tigers in Red Weather. Admission to this event is free.  For more information call 631-998-3260.

COMEDY SHOW: Comedian will be performing an evening of stand-up comedy at the Westhampton Beach Performing Arts Center when he comes to town on Sunday, with "The America Tour" at 8:30 p.m.  Gaffigan is one of Comedy Central's highest-rated comedians.  Tickets for the show are $125, $100, and $75.  You can purchase tickets by calling 631-288-1500.
