Panic Setting In For Woeful Nets

Five straight losses spell more trouble for Brooklyn's home team.

After taking a drubbing at home at the hands of the Detroit Pistons Sunday, it's clear that panic is starting to set in for the hapless Brooklyn Nets.

The team has failed to gel at any level this season, struggling on both offense and defense, and is currently in the midst of a five-game losing streak.

Heading into the weekend, ESPN basketball analyst Bill Simmons suggested the team would likely be forced to trade young center Brook Lopez if their struggles continued.

Lopez, along with point guard Deron Williams, is out with an ankle injury.

In a New York Times wrap-up from Sunday, General Manager Billy King sounded notes of frustration. Those words were seemingly matched by actions from head coach Jason Kidd on the floor Sunday. Late in the game against the Pistons, Kidd sent practically the entire Nets bench onto the floor, letting the healthy members of their starting five ride the pine.

The Nets travel to Toronto to take on the Raptors Tuesday.

What do you think? Is it too early to throw in the towel? Or is this team done before the end of the month?
