One day after being eliminated from the NBA playoffs, the Brooklyn Nets have fired their head coach.

P.J. Carlesimo, who took over earlier this season as the top coach, was dismissed after the team lost a seventh-and-deciding game at the Barclays Center to the Chicago Bulls.

The Bulls, who had never won a seventh game on the road, beat Brooklyn 99-93.

Prior to taking over the Nets, Carlesimo had been the head coach at Seton Hall Unviersity, and the NBA's Portland Trail blazers and Golden State Warriors.

Carlesimo went 35-19 this year with the Nets, who moved to Brooklyn this season.
