Mysterious White Flags Fly Above the Brooklyn…

Knicks vs. Nets: Battle for City Bragging Rights Starts with Season Opener

The New York Knicks will make their first trip to Brooklyn to face the Nets for the NBA season opener.

It looks like the Knicks are going to be the first team to say, "Hello, Brooklyn."

The Nets will begin their first season in Brooklyn at the soon-to-be opened with a visit from New York's other NBA team on Nov. 1, according to a report in the Daily News.

The team's site does not yet have the Nets' 2012-13 schedule posted.

There has been a flurry of off-season roster moves on both sides of the Brooklyn Bridge that have had both boroughs buzzing about the upcoming season.

The Nets locked-up star point guard Deron Williams, added Joe Johnson from the Atlanta Hawks, and last week .

Former Knick Marcus Camby rejoined the team he went to the NBA Finals with in 1999 and Jason Kidd, who led the New Jersey Nets to the Finals twice in a row in the early 2000s. Kidd was recently charged with .

And now, as the rosters are shaping up and the season gets closer, some Brooklynites are still up in the air about which team they will call their own—while others have made their allegiences clear.

Spike Lee, who is as synoymous with the Knicks as he is with Brooklyn, .

"NOT GONNA HAPPEN," The Brooklyn native's Twitter account read earlier this month as to whether or not he would ever wear the Nets' jersey.

"Move over Manhattan—enough airballs. You had your chance," Brooklyn Borough President Marty Markowitz said, according to the Daily News report.

The game will also be somewhat of a homecoming for Knicks star forward Carmelo Anthony. While he grew up in Red Hook, Anthony will be introduced by wearing a Knicks uniform.

But before the first Knicks-Nets tip-off, Jay-Z—who is a part owner of the Nets, designed the team's —will be opening the Barclays Center with a starting on Sept. 28.

So, which side are you on now, Brooklyn? Is it the Knicks or Nets you'll be rooting for in that first game? Tell us in the comments.

I'm not worried about the Nets! They are on track and show a willingness to spend the $$$ to get best players and COMPETE BIG TIME! I am worried about the seven JayZ concerts with hundreds of tickets going for $20,$30. Hoping no one gets shot or stabbed which will be terrible P.R. for Nets and Arena...and even worse for the victims of course!

Gotta root for the Knicks. It's been too many years to switch now, other New Yorkers must feel that too...
