PHOTOS: Day of the African Child

The Bedford Village on Friday celebrated one of the school's most highly anticipated events of the year!

On Friday, June 15, school celebrated "Day of the African Child," an annual dance festival and the culminating project of the third-grade study of the countries of Africa.

For more than a decade, dancer and choreographer Dele Husbands has been instructing PS 3's students in dance & African culture. Husbands, internationally known in the field of dance and education, also is the co-founder and executive managing director of Forces of Nature Dance Theater Company.

Although Husbands has since moved to Los Angeles, she flies into Brooklyn each year to teach dance to P.S. 3's third-graders and prepare them for what is one of the most highly anticipated events of the year.

Currently, the school is seeking additional funding to offer this opportunity to more classes and for more time.
