Everybody Panic: Bed-Stuy 'Next Williamsburg'

Crain's points to opening of new real estate office as evidence.

As if the rapid changes in real estate weren't apparent enough, a new article in Crain's New York has heralded Bed-Stuy as the "next Williamsburg."

Citing the new location of an AptsandLofts.com office on Malcolm X Boulevard, the publication says the real estate office sees "potential" in Bed-Stuy to become the city's next "it" neighborhood.

AptsandLofts.com will open a 2,000 square foot office at 308 Malcolm X Blvd., Crain's said, to capitalize on what it assumes will be a continuing real estate boom in the area.

"I'm seeing in Bed-Stuy what I saw happen in Williamsburg in 2002," company President David Maundrell told Crain's.

He added that they're hoping to have 45 real estate agents working out of the Bed-Stuy office.
