Biggie's 'One-Room Shack' in Bed-Stuy Now up for Sale

The Notorious B.I.G.'s famous childhood domicile went on sale Monday for nearly three-quarters of a million dollars!

Anyone who truly knows Brooklyn knows that if there's one thing St. James Place is famous for, it's

Biggie used to live at 226 St. James Place between Fulton St and Gates Ave, back when the neighborhood was still considered Bedford-Stuyvesant. Today the neighbrhood is called Clinton Hill. And Biggie's old home is now immortalized as a hip-hop landmark.

In fact, according New York Magazine, the apartment was listed for sale on Monday with a très-Clinton-Hill pricetag of $725,000!

Yes. The "one-room shack" in Bed-Stuy that Biggie referred to in his lyrics is up for sale for nearly three-quarters of a million dollars.

Judith Lief, the property's sales agent was asked if she was aware of the "shack's," ahem, I mean "condo's" significance in music. She answered, "You must be kidding. I am."

Get the facts straight! This area was considered Bed-Sty, I know because back in the seventies when there was a laundrymat on the corner of St. James I used to live there. Shout out to Big Kee-Kee from Lefferts...And If You Don't Know Now You Know......!

Perhaps Camille Martin, you misread this article. St James Place WAS "always considered part of historic Clinton Hill" when it was renamed as "Clinton Hill." The area was a part of Bedford Stuyvesant and to some it is still BedStuy. Just because of gentrification, doesn't make the historical facts change.

When I was born 1951 and a grew up on Greene and Classon Avenuesl, St James Place was Clinton Hill and Greene and Classon was Bed Stuy.

AMEN Kay. My family came up from NC and lived in Bed-Sty in the 1930's. This is what killing Brooklyn, the re-naming areas of Brooklyn for the sake of gentrification. Bed-Sty at one time covered a larger area than it does now.

As you see at the bottom of the map it states it was designated "Historical Clinton Hills in 1981. Thus indicating it was "rezoned" in 1981 and originally zoned as "BedSty", as those that lived there previously claim. Also so as suggested regentrification is the cause of the rezoning.
