When is The Last Day to Register to Vote in the NYC Primary?

Deadline to be eligible to cast your ballot is coming up soon.

The deadline to be registered to vote in the Democratic or Republican primaries this year is Aug. 16, according to the New York Board of Elections.

That means you've got less than a month to get your registration in order to cast your ballot for mayor, public advocate, comptroller and your local city council member.

New York also has closed primaries, which means you must register as a member of one political party or another in order to vote in that party's primary. Select Republican, and you'll get a Republican ballot — the same is true for Democrats.

For more info, including how to get mail-in registration or to register online, check out the Board of Elections online here.
