Thursday: Pearl Harbor Remembrance Event in Brooklyn

Bed-Stuy councilwoman to honor veterans in advance of Pearl Harbor attack anniversary.

Councilwoman Darlene Mealy, whose district includes the eastern portion of Bed-Stuy, will host an "intergenerational Pearl Harbor memorial" event on Thursday, Dec. 5.

Several local groups will co-host the event, held at P.S. 12, 430 Howard Ave. between 10 a.m. and 12 p.m. Dec. 5.

The 72nd anniversary of the attack on Pearl Harbor falls on Saturday this year. Mealy is hopeful this year's event, which is happening for the fourth time, will be a learning experience for Brooklyn youth, and a good way to honor Brooklyn's veterans.

In addition to a presentation with video clips and local musicians, speakers will include Navy veterans and an awards ceremony.
