A lengthy public debate on Mayor Bloomberg's soda size limit proposal held in Long Island City, Queens, on Tuesday brought out plenty of speakers but doesn't seem to have deterred the Board of Health, according to a report by the New York Times.
Many of the speakers represented those with vested interests in the subject, either health care experts or merchants who feel the ban would infringe on their business.
Members of the Board of Health mostly sat poker-faced through the proceedings, and it's believed the measure will pass when the board votes on it in September.
