Preliminary Results in Citywide and Local Races

Results won't be official for a few days, but returns are almost finished in all of the citywide and local races, according to the New York Times.

The results are below:

For Mayor, Republicans have selected Joe Lhota and Democrat Bill de Blasio has just barely cracked the 40 percent number to avoid a runoff.

For City Comptroller, Scott Stringer beat out Eliot Spitzer.

In the race for Public Advocate, Fort Greene Councilwoman Tish James and Brooklyn state Sen. Daniel Squadron will have a runoff on Oct. 1 after a very close primary.

Local City Council Districts are as follows:

In District 35, Laurie Cumbo has topped Ede Fox and Olanike Alabe. Cumbo secured more than 35 percent of the vote.

In District 36, the results are still too close to call, with Robert Cornegy and Kristen Foy separated by less than 100 votes.

Darlene Mealy, from District 41, was reelected handily to her seat.
