Jeffries Doubles Funds From Last Quarter
Almost half of the contributions are for small amounts, less than $100.
Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries has now more than doubled the amount of money raised for his Congress run, as compared to last quarter. As of March 31, Jeffries has raised approximately $237,000 and has about $400,000 cash on hand for his campaign against incumbent Rep. Edolphus “Ed” Towns and Councilman Charles Barron, D-East New York.
According to his team, more than 75 percent of the contributions are from New York City residents, and almost 50 percent of contributions were for $100 or less.
"I'm proud of the amount of support I have received in this campaign and remain confident that we will have the resources necessary to be victorious in June," said Jeffries, in a statement.

In total, Assemblyman Jeffries has raised more than a half a million dollars in connections with his campaign.
In February, it was reported that challenging an incumbent, beating out Barry Ford's fundraising record of $260,000 in 1999.

According to Towns’ team, the 15-term incumbent by the end of this month, after ballot paperwork is filed.
