Cuomo Proposes Foreclosure Assistance for Bed-Stuy Residents

Governor suggests a mobile command center will help struggling Brooklyn homeowners keep roofs over their heads

Governor Cuomo announced Wednesday a foreclosure prevention mobile command center on its way to Bed-Stuy to help struggling homeowners keep their homes, reported the Daily News Blog.

The initiative—sponsored by the Department of Financial Services, in partnership with the Neighborhood Housing Services of Bedford-Stuyvesant— allows homeowners to meet one-on-one with foreclosure prevention specialists who are knowledgeable and can offer practical guidance.

"It is essential that we provide as much help as possible to financially-troubled homeowners," said Cuomo. "This initiative will help provide direct assistance to homeowners and get the word out to others that it is important to ask for help as quickly as possible. The longer a homeowner waits, the harder it may be to save a home."
