As we look ahead to November’s elections and draw closer to this month's elections, Bedford-Stuyvesant Patch is devoted to bring you the information you need about every race in the area.

Here's our start on the candidates and issues we'll be covering for the June 26 primaries as well as for the November general elections. Bookmark this page for updates.

Bedford-Stuyvesant is divided into two districts: the new 8th Congressional District, which includes the slice of Prospect Heights north of St. Marks Avenue east of Vanderbilt (and also includes Fort Greene, Clinton Hill and Bed-Stuy).

The biggest race so far affecting Bed-Stuy is a Democratic primary battle for  in Congress between Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries and Councilman Charles Barron. Whomever makes it through the June 26 primary will go on to face Green Party candidate Colin Beavan and Republican Alan Bellone.

Also competitive is the battle to replace Assemblyman Hakeem Jeffries,  in which district leaders, Walter Mosley and  go head to head in a September primary. The winner of that battle will likely win the general election in November. Assemblywoman Annette Robinson will remain in her seat uncontested.

And finally, state Sens. Velmanette Montgomery and Eric Adams, will be running for reelection this year, as will U.S. Senator Kirsten Gillibrand.

Stop-and-Frisk: The controversial procedure will likely be a much-discussed issue for those on the ballot. Gov. Andrew Cuomo recently waded into the stop-and-frisk debate by during such stops. On Friday, June 15, Robinson, Mongtomery, Mosley, Alabi, joined by City Councilman Al Vann, District Leader Robert Cornegy and CB3 Chair held a press conference on the steps of Restoration Plaza to announce that they will stand in solidarity against Stop-and-Frisk practices by sending a busload of Bed-Stuy "delegates" to the Father's Day Stop-and-Frisk silent march being led this Sunday, June 17 by Reverend Al Sharpton.

President Barack Obama: Times Magazine reported that during his down-time, the president likes to read novels such as Joseph O'Neill's Netherland, set in part at a house on Rugby Road just off Cortelyou. The president also frequently visits New York and is likely to make many more trips to the city as he campaigns for November.

Mitt Romney: the presidential hopeful has had luck in the area before, for his previous campaigns in the 11230 zip code. But his luck might stop there as polls show Obama has a huge lead over Republican Romney among New York voters.
