A Sox Fan in City Hall? Uh-Oh

Bill de Blasio, mayoral candidate, public advocate, Red Sox fan?

In what might be an actual problem for his mayoral campaign — seriously — Public Advocate Bill de Blasio revealed to the New York Times that he is a Boston Red Sox fan.

I will allow readers a minute to collect their thoughts before continuing.

In an interview posted on the Times website Tuesday, de Blasio, originally a Boston native, admitted that his baseball allegiances run toward the team of his youth.

He called his connection to the team a "deep devotion."

His campaign for mayor is surging — and de Blasio is even leading in some polls. Is it possible that 2014 could be the year New York City puts a Sox fan in City Hall?

Give the story a read and let us know what you think in the comments. Would you have a problem with a Red Sox fan as mayor?
