Two Injured in Van Buren Street Blaze

The fire began just before 1 a.m on Sunday.

Two people were hospitalized with minor injuries after a fire broke out on the second floor of a four-story building on Van Buren Street early Sunday morning.

Around 65 firefighters with 12 fire trucks responded to the blaze at 171 Van Buren St., which was reported at 12:49 a.m. The fire was knocked down by 2:09 a.m., an FDNY spokesman said.

The two people injured in the blaze were transported to Methodist Hospital for treatment. Neither injury was considered to be life-threatening.
