Perpetrator is at large; the investigation is ongoing

Police are on the hunt for a suspect involved in a Sunday night shooting on Marcus Garvey Boulevard.

According to reports, police received a 911 call on Sunday, November 25, at approximately 10:30 p.m. of man shot inside of 430 Inkz, a tattoo parlor located at 379 Marcus Garvey Boulevard.

Upon arrival, police found the man, identified as Cory McLean, 29, lying on his side at the scene -- where he is also an employee -- with one gunshot wound to the left side of his head. Several witnesses stated an unknown black male entered the location and fired one shot at the victim without saying a word and then ran down Marcus Garvey Blvd towards Hancock St.

The victim immediately was transported to Interfaith Hospital, where he survived but is listed in critical condition.

The detective squad is currently working the case.

Memo to Patch.com/Bed-Stuy Reporter, Ms. C. Zawadi Morris: Nowhere is your above article does it say the victim has died; yet several of the posters write as thou he has passed away. Please do a followup clarifying the health status of Mr. McLean.

Joe, I typically don't follow up on every crime story we post, unless it's very high-profile and/or an unsolved incident (otherwise the site would be a rolling crime blotter). But considering the renewed interest in this one from five months ago, I did put in a call to the 79th Precinct about the status of the victim and am waiting for their answer. I'll keep you posted.

Joe, so no answer from the 79 Pct on this... Not surprised. I suggest you attend this evening's monthly council meeting (I'll be there as well). Maybe they'll have something to say if confronted in person.
