See Which Downstate County Has the Most Hate Crimes in New York
Suburban counties rank high compared to the highly populated city boroughs.
In 2012, New York saw 720 hate crimes recorded across the state, with more than half unsurprisingly coming out of New York City. But when you break down the numbers by county, especially in the downstate area, it may surprise you to see where the suburban areas stand among the boroughs.
We've compiled the following list using statistics from the state's Uniform Crime Reporting System and ranked the downstate area by the total hate crimes reported by law enforcement agencies in those counties in 2012, the most recent data available. We've also included stats from 2008 as a comparison.
