Reward Offered For "Knockout" Attack Info

Group offers $5,000 for arrest, conviction in attacks.

As the spate of "knockout" assaults in Brooklyn has escalated, local leaders are trying to find the cause of the attacks, and possible solutions.

The Jewish Community Relations Council of New York has decided to offer a $5,000 reward for information leading to an arrest and conviction in the attacks, hoping to stem the tide of incidents that has residents frightened.

Michael Miller, of the JCRC, said the group is trying to accelerate the administration of justice by offering the reward.

"These attacks have dislodged the sense of safety and security that most New Yorkers feel when they walk our streets," Miller said in a statement. "The cowardly assailants often prey on the most vulnerable: Jews and Christians, blacks and whites. There have already been arrests. We want to give the NYPD an additional tool to stop these crimes as quickly as possible."

The attacks are being investigated by the NYPD hate crimes division.
