Police Searching for Fourth of July Murderer in Bed-Stuy

NYPD surveillance cameras caught footage of the man running with a gun in his hand.

The New York City Police Department is seeking the public's assistance in identifying a man responsible for a shooting death over the Fourth of July weekend on Jefferson Avenue.

According to police, on Friday, July 5, at around 11:50 p.m., police were called to 478 Jefferson Avenue, between Throop and Marcus Garvey Blvd., regarding a man who had been shot.

At the scene, police found the victim, a 29-year-old man identified as Rashawn Jackson, lying inside the foyer with multiple gunshot wounds to his body. The victim was taken to Kings County Hospital, where he was pronounced dead.

Witnesses said the shooter fled east down Jefferson and then turned south onto Marcus Garvey Blvd. Surveillance cameras caught footage of the suspect running with a gun in his right hand.
