Police Search for Attempted Rapist in Bed-Stuy

The suspect tried to rape a woman on Nov. 16, but a passerby intervened.

The NYPD is asking the public's assistance in identifying the man suspected of attempted rape within the confines of the 79th Precinct.

According to police, the suspect, a black man in his 20s, standing about 6-foot and weighing approximately 170 lbs., approached a 21-year-old woman who was walking home by herself on Nov. at around 1:20 a.m. in Bed-Stuy. 

The man then grabbed her and tried to rape the victim, police reported. However, the victim began to scream, a passerby intervened and the suspect ran off, cops said.

Cops said that the suspect was clean-cut and wearing a black jacket, dark pants and a winter hat with draw strings.

Police did not release information on the exact location of this attack.
