Police on the Lookout for Chauncey Street Bandit

Cops seeking the second of two suspects caught robbing an apartment on Chauncey Street Wednesday

81st Precinct police are seeking the public's help in identifying and arresting the second of two bandits caught burglarizing a residence on Chancey Street between Patchen Ave and Malcolm X Blvd.

At around 2:25pm on Wednesday, September 6, police received a 911 call of a burglary taking place at 181 Chauncey Street. A witness gave a description of two unknown men seen entering the rear window of a fourth floor apartment.

Upon arrival, police saw the two men attempting to flee down the fire escape. When they robbers spotted the officers, they jumped over the fence and began running through the yards of the buildings facing Bainbridge Street, according to police.

Police found one suspect hiding in the bushes near the rear of 242 Bainbridge Street. He has been identified as Noble Maxwell and was arrested.

The officers then called in aviation to assist in locating the second suspect. Further investigation and video footage showed the second bandit running through a yard into 110 Chauncey Street.

Officers responded to the location and found the clothes fitting the description  of the aviation's video. But the suspect had stripped out of the clothes, changed and then fled the scene.

Police are still looking for the second suspect, and the investigation is ongoing.

Fellow neighbors - putting the word out there that home robberies seem to be on the rise. My house on MacDonough and Ralph was broken into during the day on Labor Day while I had left the house for a couple of hours - robbers went through the front, parlor window. A friend also had her house broken into the same way, on Madison and Marcus Garvey - but at night - this past weekend. Let's please work together and be on the look-out for suspicious people who are lingering on blocks, or flat out trying to get into someone's house through a window. Yell at the robbers from a distance, or call 911.
