Police on the Hunt for Would-be Rapist in Bed-Stuy

A good Samaritan intercepts rape on the street; suspect is at large

79th Precinct police are seeking the public's assistance in capturing a would-be rapist who attacked a woman on the street in Bedford-Stuyvesant on Friday, November 16, 2012.

According to police reports, the 21-year-old woman said she was walking towards her house at approximately 1:20 a.m. when an strange man approached her and started to walk with her.

The suspect then grabbed the victim and attempted to rape her. The victim was rescued after she started screaming and a passerby interceded, at which point the suspect fled the scene.

The suspect is described as a black male in his 20's, approximately 6 feet and 170 pounds. He was clean-cut and wore a black jacket, dark pants and a winter hat with draw strings.

The suspect is at large, and the investigation continues.
