Police Blotter: Two Shootings on Pulaski Street

A weekly roundup of crime activity in the 81st Precinct

Crime is down 20 percent in the 81st Precinct (24 incidents versus 30 incidents) for the week of June 25 - July 1, compared to this same time period in 2011. For the month, crime is up 3 percent (116 incidents versus 113 incidents), compared to this same 28-day period in 2011. Year to date, crime is up ten percent (731 incidents versus 663 incidents), compared to this same time last year.

Two Shootings:

On Sunday, July 8, at approximately 12:15 a.m., a 27-year-old male was shot in front of 462 Pulaski Street. According to police reports, the shooting took place following a verbal dispute between the victim and the shooter over liquor. The victim was transported to Kings County Hospital with non life-threatening injuries. Detectives are still working on the case.

On Sunday July 8, at approximately 3:56 p.m., a 3-year-old child, Isaiah Rivera, was shot once in the left calf in front 383 Pulaski Street while playing outside in the sprinklers of Roosevelt Houses. Officers responded to call of shots fired once officers arrived they spoke with the victim’s mother who stated a man was firing shots across the court yard at a group of males and her child was struck in the crossfire. Detectives have made two arrest already and currently are seeking one more person of interest.
