Police Blotter: Two Shootings, a Robbery and a Phone Snatch

A roundup of crime incidents in the 79th Precinct

Crime went up 5 percent in the 79th Precinct (40 incidents versus 38 incidents), for the week of August 8 - August 15. For the month, crime increased by 7 percent (171 incidents versus 60), compared to this same 28-day period last year. For year-to-date, crime has decreased by 7.7 percent (1,045 incidents versus 1,13 incidents), compared to this time by now last year.

2 Shootings:  

On Saturday, August 13, at 9:30pm, a 37-year-old man was shot and killed in the rear of 666 Willoughby Ave. The victim was shot one time in the chest and ws pronounced dead at Kings County Hospital. Currently, the motive for this shooting is under investigation by the 79th Precinct Detective squad.

On Thursday, August 11, at approximately 1:00am, a 29-year-old man was shot in the neck while in front of 572 Gates Ave. The motive for this shooting is still under investigation by the members of the 79th Precinct Detective Bureau.  

Robbery:

On Wednesday, August 10, at approximately 10:50pm, a female was the victim of a Robbery / Auto Theft while she sat in her car in front of 1566 Fulton street. The female victim was in the passenger seat of a 2002 Toyota Camry while the driver exited the car leaving the car running while she went to the store. It was at this time an unknown male black approximately 40 to 45 years old entered the vehicle in the drivers seat, and struck the victim. The female fled out of the car and the perpetrator fled in the auto.  

Phone Snatch:  

On Monday, August 8 at approximately 6:10pm,  a woman was walking in front of 1121 Bedford Ave when an unknown male black approximately 6'2 snatched an iPhone from the rear pants pocket of the victim. The perpetrator fled on foot northbound on Bedford Ave towards Gates Ave.
