Police Blotter: Two Robberies and Two Burglars Apprehended

A weekly update of crime in the 79th Precinct

For the week of March 14 to March 20, the 79th Pct experienced a 18 percent increase in crime (39 vs 33), compared to last year at this same time. For the month, the precinct reports an overall nine percent decrease in crime (126 vs 138), compared to last year at this time.

Robberies:

On Monday on Monday, March 14, at approximately 2:30 am, a female was robbed of her purse by two males while she was in front of 544 Throop Ave. The males pushed her to the ground removed her purse and fled in an unknown direction.  

On Thursday March 17,  at approximately 1:30 pm, a female, 26 years old was walking from the train on Lafayette Avenue towards Marcus Garvey Boulevard when an unknown male, approximately 18 years old, who stood about 5' 10" approached her from behind, struck her in the face and forcibly removed her cell phone.

Both Robberies being investigated by the 79th Pct Robbery Squad  

Auto Break In:  

On March 15, a car window was shattered and personal property was removed from a 2010 Toyota on the corner of Dekalb Avenue and Marcy Avenue.  The 79th Precinct encourages all residents and visitors to lock car doors and remove all personal property from an auto, or leave personal property in the trunk. DO NOT leave valuables visible in an auto.  

Burglary (Two males apprehended by 79th Pct personnel):  

On March 19,  at approximately 7:50 pm, a burglary of a residence under construction took place inside of 324 Quincy Street. Members of the 79th Precinct expeditiously responded to the scene of the crime. Two males were observed in the apartment without permission or authority of the owners. These two males fled on foot out a window and after a brief foot pursuit were apprehended by the 79th Precinct.
