Police Blotter: Crime up 106% This Week in the 81st Pct

A weekly roundup of crime activity in the 81st Precinct

Crime is up 106 percent in the 81st precinct the week of February 13 – February 19 (33 incidents versus 16), compared to this same time last year. For the month, crime is up 64 percent (121 incidents versus 74), compared to this same 28-day period in 2011. Year to date, crime is up 24 percent (186 incidents versus 150 incidents), compared to this same time period in 2011.

A stabbing:

On Thursday, February 23, at approximately 1:10am a 31-year-old man was stabbed in an apartment on 320 Bainbridge Street, following a domestic dispute. According to police reports, the man was arguing with a friend and his cousin when the cousin grabbed a knife and stabbed him. The suspect, a female, 30, has been identified, and her arrest is imminent. The victim was transported to Kings County Hospital with serious injuries that were not life threatening.

Police are advising the public of an identified crime pattern: According to 81st Pct. Police spokesman, there has been a spike in crime of robberies and grand larcenies (mostly stolen electronics) in the Southeastern end of the precinct, from Malcolm X down to Howard Avenue between Decatur to Herkimer Streets.
