Police Blotter: A Stabbing, a Robbery and an Auto Break-In

A weekly roundup of police activity in the 79th Precinct

The 79th Precinct experienced an 11 percent overall increase in crime for the week of March 21 to March 27  (30 crimes vs 27 crimes), compared to this same week last year. For the past month the 79th Precinct is reporting a total 7 percent decrease in overall crimes (122 crimes vs 131 crimes), compared to this same month last year.  

A few incidents from last week:  

Assault / Stabbing

On Sunday, March 27, at approximately 4:00 am, a 24-year-old male was stabbed in the chest inside of an elevator at 433 Lafayette Ave (Lafayette Gardens Houses). The male was transported to Brooklyn Hospital and remains in critical condition. A motive for this stabbing is unknown at this time.  

Robbery

On Thursday, March 24, at approximately 10:00 am, a female, 36 years old, was robbed by three unknown black males while walking on Ellery Street between Delmonico Place and Tompkins Ave. The ages of the perpetrators are described to be between 16 and 19 years old. The female victim was robbed of her purse that included her blackberry phone, iPod and cash.        

Grand Larceny  

On Monday, March 21, a female reported her wallet was stolen while she was doing laundry inside of 866 Dekalb Ave. The female victim did place her wallet down and did leave it unattended when an unknown person picked it up and walk out of the store.  

Auto Break-In   

On Monday, March 21, a 2008 Dodge Blazer was broken into while parked in front of 369 Kosciuszko Street. An unknown person broke the front passenger window and removed an IBM laptop computer from the rear seat.    

*** The 79th Precinct encourages all residents and visitors to lock car doors and remove all personal property from an auto, or leave personal property in the trunk. DO NOT leave valuables visible in an auto.
