Police Blotter: A Shooting and Three iSnatches in One Week

A weekly roundup of crime activity in the 79th Precinct

The 79th Pct experienced a 10 percent decrease in overall crime last week (37 incidents versus 41 incidents), compared to this same week last year. For the past month, the 79th Pct experience a 14 percent increase in crime (168 incidents versus 147 incidents), compared to the same 28-day period in 2010.  

Shooting  

On Tuesday, August 16, at approximately 4:50pm, a male was shot one time in the back while standing on the corner of Quincy Street and Nostrand Ave. The victim was transported to Kings County Hospital and is considered in stable condition. This investigation is ongoing by the 79th Pct detective Squad.

Robberies/iSnatches  

On Tuesday, August 16, at approximately 5:50m, a 26-year-old man was robbed. The victim reports he was walking near 196 Throop Avenue just off of Myrtle Avenue when an unknown male displayed a black handgun and demanded his personal possessions. A cell phone and $80 was taken.

On Monday, August 15, at approximately 8:45pm, a man was robbed on the corner of Marcy Avenue and Macon Street. The victim states reports that three males approached him and forcibly removed his iPod. The males fled northbound on Marcy Avenue.   

On Saturday August 20, at approximately 3:00pm, a woman was walking near 102 Jefferson Ave when her cell phone was forcibly taken from her. The victim states that an unknown black man engaged her in conversation while she was walking. It was at this time that the victim states that the mane reached into her pants pocket and took her Galaxy Cell Phone.
