Police Blotter: A Murder and an Arrest

Two incidents on Saturday in the 79th Precinct

Murder

On Saturday, April 2, at approximately 1:25 pm, police responded to a report of a person shot in the hallway of 415 Lafayette Avenue, in Lafayette Gardens Housing Project. Upon arrival, an unconscious and unresponsive black male identified as Michael Bowen, 26, was discovered lying on the ground with a gunshot wound to his leg and torso. Emergency vehicles also responded to the location and pronounced the male dead on arrival, at the scene. 

So far, there have been no arrests in regards to this incident, and the investigation is ongoing.

Arrest

Also on Saturday, April 2, at approximately 12:15 pm, police within the confines of the 79th precinct made a homicide arrest at Willoughby and Marcy Avenues. Police had been looking for the perpetrator, and were able to pick him up following a tip. The perpetrator was then transported to the precinct station.|
