Police Blotter: 2 Robberies, 2 Shootings and a Park Slashing

A weekly roundup of police activity in the 79th Precinct

The 79th Pct experienced a 38 percent increase in crime last week (47 incidents vs 34 incidents). There was a 10 percent increase in crime (174 incidents vs 157 incidents), compared to this same 28-day period last year

Two Shootings:

On Sunday, July 31, at approximately 1:55am, a 24-year-old man was shot as he sat on the stoop in front of his home on Madison Street. The victim victim was transported to Interfaith Hospital. The investigation continues.

On Sunday, Sunday July 31, at approximately 3:40am, a 25-year-old man wass shot in front of his home on Fulton Street, near the intersection of Tompkins Avenue. The victim reported that two males in a vehicle drove up to him, displayed a gun and shot him. The investigation continues.  

Two Robberies:

On Monday July 25, at approximately 2:00pm, a 15-year-old boy was robbed by two young, male blacks on the corner of Marcy Avenue and Park Avenue. One male perpetrator grabbed the victim around the neck while the second perpetrator rummaged through the victim's pockets removing a cell phone, an iPod and a small amount of money. 

On Sunday July 31, at approximately 2:50am, a 25-year-old male and a 26-year-old female were robbed at gunpoint while walking along Franklin Avenue near Willoughby Avenue. The suspect, described as a black man, approximately 25-30 years old, displayed a black firearm, struck the female on the head and stole a wallet and a pair of sunglasses.  

Slashing:  

On Wednesday, July 27, at approximately 4:50pm, an 18-year-old man was slashed across the back of his neck while he was inside of a playground located at Jefferson and Bedford Avenues. The suspect is described as a black male, approximately 18-20 years old, approximately 5'6". The investigation is ongoing.
