Police Arrest Suspect in Hammer Attack

Police still don't know what motivated the attack that left a Fort Greene musician blind in one eye.

Police have arrested a suspect in an attack that caused a musician to become blind in one eye.

Clifford Price, 44, who police list as homeless, was charged with hitting the victim repeatedly on the face and neck with a hammer on Jefferson Avenue between Howard and Saratoga on July 11, according to the NYPD. 

The victim is 34-year-old Dru Barnes, a Fort Greene musician. Barnes told the network he was walking home from a friend's house in Bedford-Stuyvesant at about 11 a.m. He got lost, and cops believe the attacker followed him for about a block before hitting him, according to NBC News.

Barnes, who said he had no idea what motivated the attack, was hit in the eye and requires multiple surgeries on his path to recovery, NBC reported.
