9-year-old Boy in Critical Condition After Hammer Attack

The boy's 25-year-old brother, who is mentally disturbed, was arrested

A Bed-Stuy woman and her son are recovering from severe facial and head injuries after the two were brutally attacked Wednesday Morning with a hammer by the woman's other son, who was mentally disturbed.

According to police reports, on Wednesday, February 1, cops received 6:00 a.m. call regarding a dispute and assault at Marcy Avenue between Monroe and Madison Streets.

Police arrived at the home to find a 44-year-old woman and her 9-year-old son in critical condition. The two victims sustained blunt trauma injuries to their head and body caused by repeated attacks with a hammer by the woman's 25-year-old son who was still in the house but was being held and restrained by his older brother.

The 25-year-old immediately was placed under arrest for the assault and taken to Woodhull Hospital for a psychiatric evaluation.

The injured mother and son were rushed to Kings County Hospital where they were treated for severe injuries to the head, face and skull. The 9-year-old suffered a severe skull fracture and is listed in critical condition. The mother is in serious but stable condition.
