Man Shot in the Shoulder on Gates Avenue

Witnesses say the two men were arguing shortly before shots rang out

A 20-year-old black male was shot in the shoulder in front of Louis Armstrong Houses early this afternoon.

Police were called to the scene at approximately 1:50 pm, after a man was reportedly shot in front of the entrance of Armstrong Houses, located at 499 Gates Avenue on the corner of Marcy Avenues, next to the Police Athletic League (PAL) building.

Witnesses said two men were arguing in front of the building shortly before the shots rang out. The perpetrator fled the scene on foot. EMS vehicles arrived on the scene and transported the victim to Woodhull hospital where he remains in stable condition.

The victim is pending full identification, and police are seeking information on the perpetrator. The investigation is ongoing.
