Man Shot, Arrested After Hitting Cop With Cane

Officer, suspect in stable condition after incident.

Police in Bed-Stuy shot a 27-year-old man Saturday after he attacked them — and their patrol car — with a wooden cane.

According to police, two officers came down from a train platform around 10:30 a.m. Saturday at the Myrtle Avenue J station and saw Dairon Bledsoe, 27, smashing a wooden cane into the hood of their patrol car.

Seeing the police, Bledoe allegedly fled until an officer stopped him in front of 874 Broadway. Police said Bledsoe then hit the female officer in the face with the cane, breaking it and knocking her to the ground.

The second officer then fired his service weapon, hitting Bledsoe in the torso and knocking him down.

He was arrested at the scene and charged with assault with a deadly weapon, menacing, criminal mischief and felony assault, among other charges.

Both officers and the suspect were taken to Brooklyn hospitals in stable condition.
