On Friday, May 25, at approximately 11:30 p.m., an 18-year-old boy, identified as Isaiah Roberts of Rockaway Parkway, was shot and killed in front of 847 Hancock Street between Ralph and Howard avenues.
According to an anonymous witness, the victim was walking along Hancock when an unknown man and woman approached him and the man told him, “run your sh**” (give me everything you’ve got). When the victim refused, the male shooter then reached into the female’s purse, pulled out a handgun shot five rounds, according to the witness. One of the bullets hit the victim in the back as he was running.
The victim continued running until he reached 90 Howard Street, where cops found him lying face down and passed out. Police report Roberts had four prior arrests. He was taken to Kings County Hospital where he was pronounced dead.
UPDATE June 16, 2012: Pursuant to a continued investigation, Lawrence Jones, 21, of Schaefer Street, has been arrested and charged with attempted robbery, criminal possession of a weapon and murder.
