Friday Night Fire on Skillman Street

A fire broke out in a residential building on Skillman Street, between Willoughby and Dekalb avenues, but was extinguished in less than 20 minutes.

A fire erupted in the top floor of a three-story residential brick building at around 6:06 p.m. on Skillman Street, between Willoughby and Dekalb avenues, on Friday night. 

The fire was extinguished by 6:24 p.m., only lasting 18 minutes, according to an FDNY representative. There were no reported injuries. 

Fire Engine Company 235 and Ladder Company 102 were the first to arrive on the scene, but 12 engines and ladders responded, with a total of 60 firefighters to help control the flames.

The cause of the fire is still unknown and is currently under investigation by the fire marshals, officials said.
