Fire Truck Strikes, Kills Motorcyclist

A fire truck responding to a garbage fire collided with a motorcycle in Bed-Stuy on Monday, killing the motorcyclist, according to NY1.
Ladder 1-11 was responding to a “rubbish fire” started by 17-year-old Kevin Saunders, who was playing with illegal fireworks on Nostrand Avenue, says the article.
According to NY1, the fire truck was on its way to the scene when it struck Reginald Brown, 46, on his motorcycle at the intersection of Marcy and Gates Avenues.

Brown, who worked at a nonprofit that helps the homeless, was taken to Woodhull Hospital, where he was pronounced dead, says the article. A vigil was held in front of his home on Monday night.
Saunders was arrested by fire marshals, says NY1.
