Fatal Assault on Rochester Avenue Leaves Man Dead

Police currently are investigating the death of Matthew James

A man identified ast Matthew James of Crown Heights was found dead an unresponsive last night in front of 22 Rochester Avenue, between Fulton and Atlantic Avenues.

At approximately 5:45pm on Thursday, police responded to a 911 call of a male assaulted, according to reports. Police arrived to find the James, 38, unconscious on the sidewalk. Police were unable to determine the cause of his injuries.

He was taken to Interfaith Hospital where he was pronounced dead.The Medical Examiner is looking into the cause of his death, and the investigation is ongoing by 81st Precinct police.
