Mayor-elect Bill de Blasio made his first major appointment Thursday, returning William Bratton, former NYPD and LAPD Commissioner, to the department's top post.

De Blasio made the announcement on his Transition2013 website Thursday morning.

"Together, we are going to preserve and deepen the historic gains we’ve made in public safety—gains Bill Bratton helped make possible," de Blasio said in a statement. "And we will do it by rejecting the false choice between keeping New Yorkers safe and protecting their civil rights. This is an administration that will do both."

Bratton was NYPD commissioner from 1994 to 1996 when he followed none other than Ray Kelly, the man he succeeds now as well.

The mayor-elect made a point of drawing attention to Bratton's reputation for pioneering community policing and pledged that the two would work together to end the overuse of stop-and-frisk, the controversial tactic that has defined the Bloomberg-Kelly era in New York.

Bratton is a POS! No one ought to overlook his lengthy history of assaults against the Black community which span three states over two decades. There's much to see: First, in 1989 while Bratton was a top cop in Boston he ordered the arrest of 300 Black men after one Charles Stuart falsely claimed to have been robbed by a Black man who then killed his wife. It later developed Mr. Stuart in fact murdered his wife. Second, in 1993 while he was Chief of the NYC Transit Police & later while he was NYPD Police Commissioner Bratton started the stop & frisk policy that target ted Blacks & dark skinned Hispanics. Third, in 1994 Bratton tried to cover up the multiple gunshots to the back of an on-duty Black NYC Transit cop named Desmond Robinson by a white off-duty NYPD cop named Peter DelDebbio. As Robinson lay comatose in the hospital, Bratton arranged for DelDebbio, then Mayor Giuliani & a NYDaily News photographer to photo Robinson as he lay in the hospital. The Daily News front page article read: "I forgive you" supposedly uttered by a comatose Robinson. 5 days later Robinson awoke to outrage he was a political photo prop for Bratton as he lay in a hospital.Fourth, win 2009 while Chief of the Los Angeles Police, Bratton presided over the stop and frisk of 900,000 Blacks in los Angeles. By selecting Bratton, Mayor-elect DiBlasio already sold out Black folks. History will repeat itself!
