Daily Police Blotter: A Shooting, A Missing Person and a Suspect Search

Three crimes reported yesterday in the 81st Precinct

The 81st precinct was busy yesterday. A shooting, a missing person and a suspect search all happened within the early morning hours.

  • On Wednesday, March 16th, at approximately 2:43 am, police were called in to search for a missing person at 650 Gates Avenue. Units conducted a hospital canvass for the person who was described as a 21-year-old black female, 5' 5", approximately 100 pounds. She was reported as wearing a white sweater, blue jeans, white sneakers and possibly carrying a small baby. As of yet, the search is ongoing.
  • On Wednesday, March 16th, at approximately 7:30 am, police units, including support from aviation, were required to capture a suspect within the confines of the 81st Pct. The police sergeant reports that the perpetrator is now in custody.
  • On Wednesday, March 16th, at approximately 8:24 am, shots were fired at 307 Reid Ave and Decatur Street. Units reported shell casings on the ground in front of the location. The perpetrator fled into the building per witnesses. Police apprehended the perpetrator, who was in an apartment. He is now in custody.
  • Last Friday, March 11th, a police car was involved in an accident at Fulton Street and Stuyvesant Ave. The drivers reported minor injuries and were transported to Kings County Hospital.
