Bed-Stuy's Precinct BBQ An Effective Way to Rein in Violence?
Can BBQs be an effective way to attract young people and help form relationships with officers?
Bed-Stuy's 81st Precinct officers were flipping burgers and shelling out hot dogs in an effort to engage with youth and help curtail violence in the area Wednesday, according to a report in Gothamist.
Amidst news of recent shootings, including the murder of 17-year-old Kamau Chandler over the weekend, the precinct hoped to attract young members of the community to the BBQ, but according to the report, they didn't show.
