Bed-Stuy Car Wash Worker Dies in Accident

Car wash worker dies when car speeds out of control onto Atlantic Avenue.

A Bed-Stuy car wash worker died after a Lincoln Navigator he was trying to move from the lot accelerated onto Atlantic Avenue and was struck by another car, police said.

According to police, the worker was in the 2010 Navigator attempting to move it from the Automated Hand Car Wash lot a 1119 Atlantic Ave. in Bed-Stuy when the car suddenly accelerated onto Atlantic and was struck by an oncoming Nissan Altima.

The worker was ejected from the Navigator and then hit by it and it continued to speed out of control, police said. The Navigator continued westbound until it hit a fire hydrant and Atlantic and Franklin Avenue and stopped. He was transferred to Kings County Hospital and pronounced DOA.

The driver of the Altima was also taken to Kings County Hospital with unspecified injuries.

The investigation is ongoing, according to police.
