79th Precinct Commander Moved to Special Victims

A Deputy Inspector from Far Rockaway will take over the post at the 79th Precinct.

79th Precinct commander Peter Bartoszek, accused two years ago of quota-based policing, was moved last week to the city’s Special Victims Division, where he will serve as executive officer, says the New York Daily News.

Deputy Inspector Michael LiPetri, who was running the 101st Precinct in Far Rockaway, will take over the 79th, says the article.

Although a police source tells the Daily News that the move was “to clear up a toxic working environment” – Patch reported on – Captains Endowment Association head Roy Richter told the paper that Bartoszek was highly regarded within the NYPD.

“His new assignment gives him citywide responsibility for major investigations, and is a natural progression for a talented leader,” Richter told the Daily News.

The 79th Precinct Council meets tonight at the Job Corps Center, 585 Dekalb Avenue, 2nd Floor at 7 p.m.

Chris Rock said it best, African Americans are shown more 'love' for doing a 'bid' and getting outRead More of prison than to graduate school with a degree. When this 'hood mentality' starts to change, then you will see more than a trickle of AA passing advanced math courses.
