Three Arrested, 11 Guns Recovered Near Bed-Stuy School Plagued by Shootings

Public housing police officers arrested 3 men after recognizing one with outstanding warrant for illegal weapons possession

Police of the PSA-3 Anti-Crime Unit recovered 11 illegal firearms and arrested three men for criminal possession of weapons Saturday night inside of 65 Tompkins Avenue.

Over the past two weeks, police were repeatedly called to the area of this arrest for reports of shots fired near Public School 368, located at 70 Tompkins Avenue. The school recently protested on Friday calling for greater police presence after the building underwent five lockdowns as a result of five shootings over the course of eight days.

Two of the men arrested have been identified as Equan Slade, 18, and John Abreau, 26. A third man was arrested, but he has not yet been identified.

PSA-3 officers were conducting a vertical patrol inside 70 Tompkins Ave when they recognized Slade, who already was wanted for an outstanding warrant for criminal possession of a weapon.

As a result of the successful takedown, the officers recovered six (6) .380 caliber semi-automatic firearms and five (5) imitation pistols.

Chris Rock said it best, African Americans are shown more 'love' for doing a 'bid' and getting outRead More of prison than to graduate school with a degree. When this 'hood mentality' starts to change, then you will see more than a trickle of AA passing advanced math courses.
