25-Year-Veteran of NYPD Dies in 79th Pct

Sergeant Patrick Divers was 51 and made more than 1,000 arrests.


On Friday, Feb. 1, at approximately 10:30 a.m., a member of the NYPD suffered cardiact arrest inside the 79th Precinct and died, according to cops.

Sergeant Patrick Divers, 51, was performing enforcement duties with his Brooklyn North Narcotics team near Myrtle and Nostrand Avenues, when he began to experience chest pain and convulse, stated a release from NYPD.

The sergeant was immediately transported by the accompanying unit to nearby Woodhull Medical Center where he suffered cardiac arrest and was later pronounced dead, police said.

A 25-year veteran of the NYPD, Sergeant Divers made more than 1,000 arrests, and earned 35 recognitions in his career for Excellent and Meritorious Police Duty.

He is survived by his wife, a daughter and son. Sgt. Divers was a graduate of St. John’s University.
