U.S. Minorities Reach a Tipping Point

What do you think are the implications of this change for America?

The Census Bureau announced Thursday that most of the newborn babies in the United States belong to minority groups-- that is, minority births have now become the majority.

Minorities—including Hispanics, blacks, Asiansand those of mixed race—accounted for 50.4 percent of all U.S. births during the 12-month period that ended last July, edging past non-Hispanic whites who made up 49.6 percent.

So, what does this mean?

What do you think are the implications of this change for America?

Will this mean we should now do away with the term "minorities?" for those historically underrepresented in numbers?

Even more importantly, should this shifting demographic change how the U.S. government addresses the unique needs and concerns of those historically classified as "underrepresented?"

Chris Rock said it best, African Americans are shown more 'love' for doing a 'bid' and getting outRead More of prison than to graduate school with a degree. When this 'hood mentality' starts to change, then you will see more than a trickle of AA passing advanced math courses.
