Fall is a great time for planting!!

You still have time to plant that garden you've been dreaming about all summer. Fall is the ideal time to establish a new garden...  plants are not stressed by hot weather, and the possibility of inadequate watering. Even though the outside temperature is cool, the root system of shrubs and trees grow actively until soil temperatures are in the 40's (usually sometimes in December).

Cooler temperatures also cause plants to put all their vigor into root production rather than leaf production, which in the long run produces healthier plants. Another great advantage to fall planting is that the nurseries and other professionals (such as the friendly Flowerworks crew) are not as busy as in the spring...
